Abdul Buhari OLY grew up in Nigeria, moving to the UK aged 7 and joining Newham & Essex Beagles athletics club as a teenager, therefore has experienced first-hand the benefits of pursuing athletics as a young person but also has an appreciation and understanding of the challenges facing children and young people.
He went on to win national titles in 2011 in the discus and is ranked 5th on Britain’s all-time list. He represented Great Britain in discus at the 2012 Olympics in his home city, London, whilst balancing working for the global investment bank Credit Suisse, where he is now a relationship manager in private banking. As an Olympian and former GB athlete, Abdul remains actively involved in the athletics community and is the co-founder of the Athlete Alumni. He currently holds a governance role with Dauntsey’s Independent School, in Wiltshire, as well as being on the Fika Advisory Committee.
